I started studying with the Australian College of Professional Styling when I had completed my Personal Training certification. On that journey I realised that I had personally trained myself and had my ballet body back!
Shopping for clothes was so much fun and I realised that I could offer this as an added service to my business – I already had the fitness and weight loss, beauty, skincare and makeup skills. Styling would not only complete my service, but would also create a very unique and attractive business… Fitness, beauty and fashion.
ACPS were very accommodating and patient with me over the two years, as I was competing in body building competitions both nationally and internationally , performing in local musical theatre, doing extra courses in fitness, beauty and makeup, and working backstage at local fashion festivals, as well as keeping my clients happy. I was juggling time to study and get the assignments in.
I completed my course and have been very fortunate to work with the College’s senior tutor, Trish Murray, styling for the Westfield’s Woden and Belconnen in Canberra for the Autumn and Spring 2016 season’s launch. I have also been backstage as a Makeup Artist for the Canberra 2016 FashFest and the Singapore and Mexican Formula 1 GrandPrix 2016 Amber lounge International Fashion shows.
I was also a finalist in the 2016 Canberra Women in Business Awards in the following categories: ‘Best New Business’, ‘Canberra Business Woman of the Year’ and ‘Outstanding Community Spirit.’
The knowledge that I gained from studying with ACPS has given me the edge in the workplace. It has also improved my self-confidence, giving me the courage to take bigger steps.
I understand that fashion, like fitness, makeup and beauty industry is forever evolving, but ACPS has given me the grounding and inside tips to get ahead.
Thank you to my tutor and staff of Australian College of Professional Styling… I look forward to the future with great anticipation.
