When I started The Professional Photo, Film, TV and Personal Stylist’s Course with The Australian College of Professional Styling, I had no idea how comprehensive the course would be. Some people think that there is not much to becoming a stylist. Others might think everyone can dress themselves to their needs. How wrong they are!
I have always been interested in fashion. It is an art to dress people to their best, and I confess that I needed to be taught a strategy on how to organise and create a functional wardrobe with less waste. Being a fashion designer, I am custom to clothes, but I felt something was missing concerning any fashion matter. I am glad that I have completed the course and closed the gap between knowing and guessing.
My experience with The Australian College of Professional Styling has been a very pleasant and enjoyable journey. The course tutorials are straightforward and clear. It covers all aspects of the fashion industry and provides a high level of information. The course takes you behind the curtains and offers you insider knowledge of the industry as well - the highs and lows, the dramas and successes.
The assignment instructions were clear and provided an example of a successful submission. My tutor’s feedback was constructive, helpful, and encouraging. I have gained a comprehensive knowledge of the fashion industry, including how fashion has evolved over the decades. I believe that it is an essential element for styling for not only personal styling but for film/ theatre as well.
I loved every part of the course and I especially appreciated the intense training and assignments concerning body shapes and how to resolve unwanted flaws by cleverly constructed style lines and colour placement. Therefore, I have obtained a solid comprehension of how to style clients to make them look their best. I am confident that my future clients will benefit from it all and I feel inspired and unstoppable to start my new journey.
I am recommending anyone who wants to become a successful stylist to enrol in this course. After completing the course, I have implemented certain elements of my newly gained knowledge into my existing skills in fashion design. I am in the progress of creating a compelling website for an all-encompassing image consulting business that will include hairdressing and makeup. I feel very lucky to be able to start a new career and I am excited to build, through passion and hard work, a booming, flourishing business as an image consultant soon.
